On 5 May 2024 we held a collaborative concert to raise awareness of singing for lung health. Together with The Warblers and The Cheyne Gang, both established singing for lung health charities, and Castle Chorus, whose MD is a trained singing for lung health song leader, we took part in a concert called Breath of Life in Inverleith St Serf’s Church in Edinburgh. Our very own MD James Robertson, is also a trained singing for lung health song leader.

The programme for the concert was varied, with each group singing three pieces alone then, in the second half, we all came together to celebrate breath! Lauderdale Community Choir performed Christopher Tin’s Baba Yetu, Over the Rainbow (arranged by Joanna Forbes) and Northern Lights by Ola Gjeilo.

The collaborative second half of the concert included pieces by Mike Heron, Karine Polwart and Kathy Kennedy Stewart as well as a solo performance from Robyn Stapleton.

The concert was fun and very well received by our full house audience. As well as raising money for The Warblers and The Cheyne Gang, we successfully demonstrated the joy and therapeutic benefits of singing with other people.
