Singing by Numbers

In the weeks leading up to Christmas the Lauderdale Community Choir performed at three very different venues: the traditional Lauder lights switch-on around the Christmas Tree, a ‘Christmas at Abbotsford’ concert and singing carols at the BGH. Each in there own way very satisfying and all so well received that the choir’s been invited back next year.

No sooner was the Festive Season over than we begun rehearsing a new programme for our Spring Concert. It is titled ‘Singing by Numbers’ and will be performed at Lauder Primary School on Saturday 10th May at 7.30 pm.  It should be well worth a ‘not to be missed’ note in your diary. Each piece of music is related to a number and is so varied it should appeal to every taste. It includes settings of Psalms and extracts from the scores of the James Bond  films, Chorus Line, My Fair Lady’, and the title music for the ‘Vicar of Dibley’.

The choir’s membership swells month by month and is now over 70. We have a very broad range of age and abilities. If you want to sing, no matter what your musical experience, you can be assured of a very warm welcome – there are no auditions. You can simply turn up at the Lauderdale Hotel at 7.30pm on a Thursday night and sample the fun to be had when singing with a large, supportive community choir!
