Mellerstain House and Garden is a beautiful Georgian mansion designed by Robert Adam and ‘Its interior Adam decoration is one of Scotland’s top architectural glories; light intricate classical motifs, hardly touched in 200 years, adorn the walls, fireplaces and ceilings of the perfectly proportioned main rooms (especially the Music Room, Library and Drawing Room). It is located near Gordon, Scottish Borders, postcode TD3 6LG.

We are pleased to welcome the Squair Mile Consort of Viols, who were formed in 1992 and regularly give concerts in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and further afield. It is dedicated to the great music composed for the viola da gamba from the late 16th to the late 17th century. The consort also seeks to promote the brilliant potential of modern music composed specifically for the viol and perform with Soprano Rosie Sweetnam who we are also delighted to welcome along with the consort. Prior to the concert there will be a short introduction to the viol which we hope you will find of interest.

We are also thrilled that two talented young musicians, both in their final year of music studies at Edinburgh University will also be playing for us on 22nd November. Ailsa Aitkenhead is a pianist in high demand for her accompanying skills as well as for her solo performances, and she will be playing alongside Carla Chiappa, soprano, and winner of the Edinburgh Competition festival.
