Lauderdale News Article – December 2014

New and Exciting Times Ahead for LCC

Our new session started in September with a new home for the choir – we now hold our rehearsals at the Lauder Public Hall, although the time and day of the week has not changed – you can still find us on Thursdays at 19:30.  Heartfelt thanks to the Lauderdale Hotel for allowing us to use their function room for rehearsals free of charge for over four years!
We commenced our new session following the summer break with a full programme of music planned to take us through the next year.  It is great fun working on new pieces of music, from learning the new notes to hearing it all come together. However, as I write this piece, we are preparing to put any new material on pause as we dig out and dust off the Christmas Carols, in preparation for our Christmas performances.  You can come and hear us perform at: Abbotsford on Sunday December 7th or at the Borders General Hospital on Sunday t he 21st of December.
Our October AGM brought an opportunity to reflect upon our achievements and look forward to the year ahead.  We received notification of our current Musical Director John Stone’s wish to step down from his role. We have been incredibly lucky to have had John at the musical helm of the choir, and will be very sad to see him go.  This is the start of a new chapter for Lauderdale Community Choir and we look forward to discussing our requirement for a new Musical Director with interested, suitably experienced parties.
Wishing everyone in Lauderdale and beyond a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year! We look forward to seeing you either holding a music folder with us, or as an audience member at one of our future gigs.
